There aren't that many people who can say they have lived in the Los Angeles area their entire life and who have worked in radio in their hometown. I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones. However, radio wasn't my first career choice. I thought I wanted to be a journalist, and took many journalism courses to help fulfill that dream. That all changed in January 2004 when I began taking radio classes at Fullerton College. Taking those classes helped me work my way into the world of radio in June 2005 working as an overnight board operator at KOST 103.5 and KBIG 104.
As a lifelong Disney fan, I have also produced many Disneyland and Disney Cruise broadcasts, and had the chance to produce a show from Disney California Adventure in 2012. My Disney expertise is used quite often at the radio station, especially when it comes to Disney trivia and pronunciation. In addition to running the board and producing, I have also served as a production and programming assistant for several iHeartMedia radio stations.
I can also say that I've been lucky enough to have been paid since day one. Not many can say this nowadays. I have worked behind the scenes on every shift in radio, and I credit everyone at KBPK for giving me the knowledge I needed to enter the world of radio.
