In 2004, Erik Pessolano moved to Orange County to start his college career and was also seeking an opportunity in the sports radio field. After being referred to Fullerton College and KPBK by a family member, he enrolled in the CRTV 145 class having no idea what to expect.
With no prior experience in the broadcast field (other than calling play-by-play in his living room growing up), Pessolano was given the opportunity to call games throughout the county for high school and college sports. After a successful tenure at KBPK and SportsNetUSA.net as a student under the tutelage of Ed Ford, Tracy Thackrah, Mark Pavlovich and Corey Neyland, Pessolano was able to transfer to Cal State Fullerton and call games for the Titans baseball and basketball teams, all while earning his BA in Broadcast Journalism and still getting air time on SportsNetUSA.net.
Today, Pessolano is the Director of Communications and Media for the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League, calling play-by-play for over 150 games per season for the league and overseeing all media aspects, as well as serving on the league’s Board of Directors. He also still calls games for SportsNetUSA.net on occasion.
Pessolano credits all of his success to Ford, Thackrah, Pavlovich, Neyland and all of the people he has had the fortune to work with on the air since the fall of 2004. He also thanks his entire family for their support, who has always pushed him to thrive in the field he loves most.
