Erik is a former KBPK staffer who has been moving up rapidly. Erik got his first job at KLLY Bakersfield, CA (Kelly 95.3) while he was still part of the KBPK staff in the Fullerton College radio program (semester grade, A+). Erik moved to Bakersfield where he did weekends, fill-ins and production at KLLY.
In May 2000, he went to Mix 104.3 in Grand Junction, CO to be their fulltime midday personality. His station is owned by one of the largest radio groups in the nation. Just two months later he was promoted to Assistant Program Director/Music Director, and took over as the acting Program Director while a new one was hired.
Erik thinks the best thing about the KBPK program is that, “They don't sugar coat anything. They show you what real commercial radio is like without giving you some of the lies that some ‘broadcasting schools’ give you. The instructors are people with real world experience and they are still active in it. They aren't some dried up radio people that need an extra couple bucks selling non-reality."
Erik also hosts the popular "Awesome 80's Lunch Hour" on Mix 104.3. Erik rejoined the air staff at KLLY in November 2000, where he wakes up Bakersfield as the morning drive guy.
